What do I do if there is a software or hardware problem?
First consult the man (Linux) page or any other available documentation to be sure you are using the command correctly. Other students or course TA's can be helpful in many cases and should be consulted first.
If the problem persists, send e-mail to lab@cs.arizona.edu. Be sure to describe the problem as thoroughly as possible, including path, machine, program, symptoms, and all the conditions which are required to duplicate the problem. Lab mail is read by the Lab support staff who will attempt to address your problem as soon as possible. Please be patient.
If you observe hardware problems (e.g., broken floppy drive, sticky keyboard, etc.), then send e-mail to lab*. Please place a note of some sort on the system so that others know that there is a problem and that the problem has been reported.
To assist you in providing the necessary information, you can run the program /usr/local/bin/mail_opr on any of the department's Linux compute servers..
Questions of an academic nature which pertain to programming assignments can not be answered by the Lab. Please refer these to your course instructor or TA.
