What can I do if I'm not admitted to the Computer Science major?
If you earn As and Bs in all of your math and computer science coursework and have a 3.0 cumulative GPA at the UA, you are guaranteed admission to the major when you apply.
Students who do not meet these criteria are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and admission is not guaranteed. If you are denied admission to the major, one of two outcomes may occur. The Admission Committee may present you with a pathway to pursue in order to make yourself more admissible, and will invite you to apply again after completing these requirements. However, if the Committee feels that a student’s record or demonstrated skill level is too far below minimum admission criteria to correct, they may ask the student to leave the computer science program.
When pursuing a major that requires admission, it is always wise to have a backup plan. If you are not admitted to the major, you will already have begun work on a different major and will not have to restart at square one. You can consult with your advisor or with a Major Exploration advisor in University College for assistance in developing your backup plan.
