Do I need to complete an AGEC?

Do I need to complete an AGEC?

You are not required to complete an AGEC prior to transferring to the UA.  In some cases, especially for students planning to attend the UA full-time, it may not be in your best interest to complete an AGEC since there is often not time for students to complete both an AGEC and the recommended CIS and math courses (see question "What CS classes can I take at Pima?) in a reasonable amount of time.  In addition, since almost all transfer students need to take extra electives once they arrive at the UA, you will have time to complete your general education after your transfer.  If you find yourself in a position where you must choose whether to take courses to complete an AGEC or the recommended CIS and math classes, you are advised to prioritize the CIS and math.

If you do happen to complete an AGEC, you should pursue the AGEC-S for science students.  The AGEC-S will complete all of your general education and supporting science requirements for the Computer Science major.
