If I transfer over with all of my general education complete, will I just need to take my computer science classes in order to graduate?
The primary components of a bachelor’s degree are major courses, general education, and foundations courses (language, English and math). However, in addition to completing these requirements, all computer science students also need additional electives in order to graduate.
All students are required to complete at least 120 units in order to graduate with a B.S. in Computer Science. Of those units, only 64 can be from a community college (meaning at least 56 must be from a university). So even if you transfer in all of your general education and foundations courses from Pima, you will still need to take elective units in order to meet the 56-unit requirement. All students must also complete at least 42 units of Upper Division (300/400-level) credit in order to graduate, and will likely need to ake several Upper Division electives in order to meet this requirement.
If you have completed coursework at another university or have exam credit (AP, CLEP, or IB), this may have an impact on the number of electives you need.Discuss this with the UA advisor.
