I am coming to the U of A from outside the U.S. How do I secure housing?
Please note that UA on-campus housing is very limited. Applications for on-campus housing should be submitted to the Department of Residence Life at least 6 months in advance. In any case, most international students at UA choose to live off-campus.
International Student Programs and Services (ISPS) (http://internationalstudents.arizona.edu/index.shtml) will provide you with a copy of the Renter's Handbook, a brochure regarding off-campus housing, at your request. To check on housing availability or to ask questions regarding housing options contact the offices listed below. - Off-Campus Housing: (http://www.union.arizona.edu/csil/csa/offcampus/index.php) : Department of Student Programs, Student Union 101, The University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ 85721, (520) 621-8046
- On-Campus Housing: (http://www.life.arizona.edu/) Department of Residence Life, Babcock, 1717 E.Speedway, The University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ 85721, (520) 621-6500
Since the International Student Orientation and Registration Program is generally scheduled one week prior to the opening of the UA's on-campus residence hall facilities, students who have reserved space in on-campus housing will need to make arrangements for temporary housing. In addition, international students who have not made previous arrangements for off-campus housing will need to find temporary accommodations during the orientation program. Prior to and during each orientation program a local hotel makes available a limited number of rooms for new international students participating in the orientation program. The hotel rooms are usually offered at a substantial discount (as much as 30%) off the regular price. If you are interested in reserving one of these rooms, contact CGSP for details regarding temporary local accommodations. Email address: ciss@w3.arizona.edu.
